Eighth Annual Philanthropitch Austin Donates Over $127,000

Philanthropitch Austin presented by Legacy Collective’s Austin Giving Circle returned to our home city for the eighth year! After being postponed in May, due to COVID-19, our team worked hard along with the support of our sponsors, judges and finalists to pivot to a virtual model and the Austin community came out to show their support more than ever! Over the course of the week, the pitches were viewed over 1,000 times, resulting in a total of $127,507 being donated to our five nonprofit finalists.

The five finalists that pitched on the virtual stage are fighting for a wide array of issues in the Austin community spanning from assisting those coming out of the criminal justice system to drowning prevention. This year’s finalist organizations were, Colin’s Hope, Austin Sunshine Camps, HealthCode, Excellent and Advancement Foundation, and Jail to Jobs. Through our virtual event we were honored to be able to bring together the five nonprofit finalists, sponsors, funders, and over 500 individual donors in efforts to support our social impact community.

The awards ceremony brought together past Austin finalists including Kori Gough of Partnerships for Children, Jessica Burleson of Partners in Parenting, and Amy Avarett of SAFE. Each had the opportunity to share a little about their organization’s story and where they are now as a result of their participation in Philanthropitch. It’s amazing to see the scalable impact Philanthropitch finalists are able to make after pitching their programs! This year’s judges panel included David M. Porter III, Laura Beuerlein, Harold Hughes, Whitney Warmack, Dave Hollis, and Shannon Bland. Laura Beuerlein even made an additional gift to help Jail to Jobs receive their full donation ask of $57,000! With this generous gift, they will be able to fully fund their program.
