Click for the Cause spotlights five local nonprofits who are developing new products, services or ways of working that advance United Way’s mission of fighting poverty in Austin. Each nonprofit has been vetted by United Way of Greater Austin’s Mission Advancement Committee and is set to compete in weekly social media campaigns to gather votes for their socially innovative idea starting April 7, 2018.

Participating nonprofits include Thinkery, Latinitas, Open Door, Foundation Communities, and AVANCE.

““Both Philanthropitch and United Way of Greater Austin allow the community to take part in channeling best practices and expanding upon impactful programs that are making a difference on issues that matter,” said Dan Graham, founder of Notley.

Innovative platforms like Philanthropitch and Click for the Cause give nonprofits the opportunity to obtain new donations sources that help fund new programs or initiatives without needing to channel existing funds from other sources. These programs redefine how communities award charitable donations and allow the Austin community the chance to choose winning solutions to some of city’s biggest social problems.

“United Way for Greater Austin and Notley Ventures have teamed up to create a unique opportunity for our nonprofit partners,” said Ray Blue, Chief Development Officer at United Way of Greater Austin. “It’s exciting to see cross-sector initiatives like Click for the Cause, which push organizations to think about getting after their mission in new ways.”

By participating in Click for the Cause, Austinites are encouraged to vote daily for their favorite social innovation during a 3-week voting period. At the end of each week, UWATX will award that week’s winning nonprofit with $5,000. At the close of voting, the Grand Prize winner will be awarded $35,000 by UWATX and advance to present on stage at Philanthropitch Austin on May 8th.
